Today we will teach you how to download and install Google Glass Home on your Android smartphones and get the experience of what you can do with Google Glass If you had one. Thanks to the developers out there who have successfully managed to grab some useful form the dump of Google Glass code that was released previously by the developer’s team of the project Google Glass. One of the geeks Android user Zhouwei Zhang came up with some interesting modded *.apk files which enables users to use different services provided by Google Glass on their Android smartphone, and believe me it’s total fun.
These moded apk’s has been tried and tested on Samsung Galaxy S III, with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean loaded on it. However we have complaints about some glitches and crashed reports that showed up when these modded apk files were installed on the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean loaded Nexus 4. So the functionality of the Google Glass app is still a question mark for Androids latest version.
However the others can follow these steps to get Google Glass Home app installed on your smartphones.
How to Download Google Glass Home on your Smartphone:
- Make sure you are not having the latest Android version 4.2.2 (as the app crashes, described above)
- You should allow non market apps to be installed on your smartphone, for that go to setting>security> allow installation from unknown source.
- Go to the following links to download the Google Glass modded apk files.
- Camera: http://zhuowei.github.io/Xenologer/glasscamera-modded.apk
- Maps: http://zhuowei.github.io/Xenologer/glassmaps-modded.apk
- Setup: http://zhuowei.github.io/Xenologer/glassmaps-modded.apk
Make sure that you download all the above mentioned apps so that your get the full experiance of the Google Glass home. Once you install these moded apk files, Open the Glass Home launcher app and you will have your Google Glass home screen infront of you. The front screen shows a clear clock with a in the middle of the screen whileon the bottom you will find “ok glass” line, which means now you have to say a voice command “Ok Glass” to make Google Glass active to start hearing your commands.
You can ask these commands to your Google Glass assistant i.e, take a picture, record a video, get directions to, send a message to, make a cal to, or hangout with. The Google Glass will come up what you wished for in an instance. Although this isn’t really the full Google Glass experiance but still this is something that you can feel how the actual device will looke and feel once you have it. The Google Glass works fine with these certain commands and if you try to do something differnt the app will obviously crash leavin this message.
