HTC starts following footsteps of Nokia in a competition to capitalize huge Indian market. The Vietnamese smartphone manufacturers have announced some special variants for the Indian market. The HTC Desire 501 Dual SIM is the first device made specifically for the Indian market. This budgeted mid-range Android smartphone is among the series of smartphones that will be released in the developing markets in the near future.
The news about this HTC Desire 501 smartphone published only on the HTC’s Indian page under the heading of Coming Soon. If we look into the specs sheet of the device, the phone is more of an HTC One mini type of device with some new features added to make it a better all round device for the specific Indian market.
The main feature of additional SIM is the most wanted one for the Indian mobile users who are more comfortable in using more than one SIM to remain in contact with others. Beside this the HTC Desire 501 has a 4.3 Inch WVGA screen which produces better vivid images than found in the older HTC mid Range devices. Under the hood there is Dual Core 1.15GHz Cortex-A7 processor supported with 1 GB of RAM and a special GPU unit for better gaming experience. There is only one variant of the device on the basis of memory and that is 8 GB built in storage which can is most likely expandable up to 32 GB with the help of a microSD card.
The device is running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box with an overlay of HTC Sense 4.0 one of my favorite customized user interface among top smartphone makers. Beside this the device support 3G connectivity on one SIM so you can buy a better data package on one SIM and use the other one with better calling rates to make Calls. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with Apt-X and NFC which is most amazing feature to be found in such a budgeted device.
The HTC Desire 501 Dual SIM has an 8 megapixel camera on the back which is capable of recording 720p HD videos at 30 fps, while there is another 2.1 megapixel unit attached at the front of the device, both these cameras have a f/2.0 apertures.
The phone is powered by a 2,100 mAh battery, quite enough for such mediocre device running Android OS. There is still no news about the Price of the HTC Desire 501 reported on the website. But we expect that the HTC’s Indian website will soon publish the price tag of the device along with the availability dates on their page.
