The developers at Google has just released the Android 5.0 Lollipop for a list of devices which were mentioned in our earlier post. Worlds largest smartphone makers have their Flagship device Samsung Galaxy S5 mentioned in that list but the developers at Samsung, in their latest reports suggested that the device will get the first OTA updates for the Android 5.0 Lollipop later in January 2015.
While we know that the Android 5.0 Lollipop updates have been made available for the Nexus devices including some of the Moto series phones by Motorola. Thanks to the developers at CyanogenMod who have just released the latest version of CyanogenMod 12 ROM based on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Android devices.
You can download the CyanogenMod 12 ROM and flash it on your Samsung Galaxy S5 device to get the latest version of the Android Lollipop 5.0 on your device. All you have to do is follow this step by step guide given below to download and install CyanogenMod 12 on your Samsung Galaxy S5 to experience the best of Stock Android 5.0 Lollipop that has been released for the Stock Android devices like the Nexus and Moto series smartphones.
We would like to thanks to a number of developers at XDA Forums who have made this installation simple with the latest CM 12 ROM which is still the early build of the AOSP. 1- Make Sure to Backup your data on your device using the Custom Recovery like the CWM or TWRP.
2- Enable the Developer Options on your device by moving to your About Phone and tapping on the Build Number of the device 7 times.
3- Make sure to enable the USB Debugging of your device in the developer options once unlocked.
4- Charge your device and make sure that it has at least 80% charged before proceeding forward.
How to install Android 5.0 on Galaxy S5 (klte)via CyanogenMod 12 Nexus Experience ROM:
Step-1: First of all download the Android 5.0 CM12 ROM for Galaxy S5. [ CM12 GApps for Android 5.0 Lollipop not included]
Step-2: After that you can now Connect your Samsung Galaxy S5 to the PC using USB cable then copy the downloaded ROM zip file to the root folder of the phone’s SD card.
Step-3: Now you can Power Off your Samsung Galaxy S5 device completely.
Step-4: Now to boot your Galaxy S5 in to the recovery menue you need to Press Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together, until the device vibrates and boots.
Step-5: Now when you enter the recovery mode, you have to perform wipe date/factory reset. Also perform Dalvik cache and Cache
Step-6: Once the process is completed return to the main recovery and select install zip from SD card, then choose zip from SD card. Now head over to the location where the Android Lollipop ROM is saved, select it and confirm installation
