As you know, Samsung’s recently announced Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, are going into the hands of users who placed pre-orders, as well as ready to show up in carrier stores. Accordingly, the US-based prepaid operators Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile have today issued the dates for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge for the first time. Boost and Virgin Mobile are the subsidiaries of US-based mobile carrier Sprint.
The first carrier offering the flagships is Boost, which set a release date of March 11 while the Virgin Mobile users will have to wait until Friday, March 18.
Unfortunately, both carriers have not announced the pricing details. However, Boost has set a promotion that casts off to a 50% price for users if they switch to its network from one of network; AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.
For a quick remind, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge were made official at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 22. The Galaxy S7 have a 5.1-inch Quad HD (2560×1440 pixels) Super AMOLED display with Exynos 8890 processor while S7 comes with a 5.5-inch curved Quad HD resolution (2560×1440 pixels) Super AMOLED display also with an Exynos 8890 processor. Both devices come with 4GB RAM, 32/64GB primary storage, a microSD card slot, fingerprint sensors, and IP68 certification making the water and dust resistance.
The flagships feature a 12-megapixel camera with dual-pixel phase detection autofocus, OIS, and 4K video recording in the rear, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Galaxy S7 has a 3,000-mAh battery while Galaxy S7 edge features a larger battery with 3,600-mAh capacity. In addition, these phones have fast wired as well as wireless charging feature.
While both devices also have a moisture sensor in the USB port that helps to protect both devices from any damage to the battery by disabling the charging when USB port is wet.
Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be available in Black Onyx, White Pearl, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium colors.
Separately, both phones are also projected to launch in India at an event in New Delhi on Tuesday, March 08.
