The fierce battle between the market giants continues. The Apple once seen as an invincible tech gadget lord is now forced by Samsung, Google, Nokia and others to think outside the box.
Apple’s newest venture is the iPad Air. A state of the art tech that is slim, light weight and as you would expect from Apple, it is sleek. This article is not just a preview of iPad Air’s features – you can get that anywhere on line. In this article we would look at the iPad Air from a technological and consumer point of view.A few concerns regarding iPad Air
My personal views on iPad Air are mixed. While it promises to be a great tech, you are forced to think that it might face some resistant from customers at first. Take pricing for example, iPad Air is priced at around $500, and Apple have decided to keep on selling the iPad 3 at $399 which as it’s now 3 generations old but still carries a high price tag. So a person with a little understanding of markets will ask some serious questions about Apple’s pricing policies.
Delicacy has never really been an issue for Apple products, despite what some people might think, they are reasonably sturdy. But looking at iPad Air, I fear that it might not be as strong as previous iPads. For a consumer in USA this might not be a big deal but warranty claims and repairs are a big hassle in some countries. Something worth mentioning here is the official warranty and repair policy for iPad Air:
“Every iPad comes with one year of hardware repair coverage through its limited warranty and up to 90 days of complimentary support. AppleCare+ for iPad extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPad and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $49 service fee plus applicable tax.” A few treats for consumers:
Battery life – iPad Air has enormous 10 hour battery timing. A tech geek knows how important battery backups are.
Built-in Apps – it contains some useful built-in apps with powerful features. Apart from standard iPhoto and iMovie, Air contains some exciting apps such as Garageband (music editing) and Pages (for document handling.
Advanced Wifi Connetivity – Two antennas and an advanced MIMO (multiple input multiple output) technology ensures swift Wifi connectivity. Air can also pick Wifi signals from a farther range and still give good reception. The Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n is dual-band with the feature of Wi-Fi hotspot.
FaceTime HD camera for Video calls – Facetime Camera is a convenient feature that works over both WiFi and cellular channels. Air certainly gives the video call enthusiasts a big boost.
5MP Camera – It has a 5 megapixel camera and it makes videos at 1080p and can shoot High Resolution pictures at 2592 x 1944 pixels. With other features included are the auto-focus, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR . It also have another 1.2 megapixel camera on front capable of HD video recording.
iPad Air technically strong – iPad Air weights at just one pound. It has a great display of 9.7 inch with a resolution of 2048-by-1536 that contains 3.1 million pixels. In addition to the A7 chip, it has a special M7 coprocessor which allows the apps to synchronize and run faster.
iPad Air is a solid piece of tech, but the question remains will iPad Air be a market revolution? In today’s corporate world, a good product isn’t simply enough the product has to be unique and awesome. iPad Air has a touch of uniqueness in it. There is a lot of promise to be seen but let’s see how it turns out.
