The Google’s Nexus series of smartphones is one of the best High End Stock Android devices yet available in quite affordable prices, This made the Nexus phones among the top Android devices available in the market recently. The current Nexus device is the Google Nexus 5 which has been assembled by LG and was introduced in 3rd quarter of 2013.
So its the perfect time for Google to introduce the next nexus device which is to be called the Google Nexus 6 and is expected to show off in coming weeks. The anticipation for the Nexus 6 is quite high but unfortunately we have no confirm reports either from Google or the LG factories yet as they suppose to make this next Nexus series device too. All we have yet are the rumors from different sources and some claimed leaks reports and data which has been on the web for some weeks now. We will go deep into all these reports and data and will find out what to expect from the future Google Nexus 6 device.
All we know is that the Google Nexus 6 will be a smartphone with a complete package of hardware and software having the inherited design of the Nexus series phones as seen in Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. But lets talk about the expected features categorically.
1- Hardware and Design:
As talked before it is most expected that designers at LG/Google will follow the same design line that is seen in previous Nexus 4 or Nexus 5 devices. The build quality won’t have that much metal involved in it rather the company will focus on using the poly-carbonate material in the making. However there are some reports that the Nexus 6 might have the curved display as the LG Flex or the Galaxy Round device.
The back of the device will have the 2nd Gen Nexus 7 (2013) tablet rubber like stuff. The device is most expected to have a 5.2 inch full-HD display mostly found in the high end Android devices currently. There were some reports that the Nexus 6 might have the 2K display with over 500ppi pixels density display but there isn’t any confirmation yet about the spread rumor. But one thing is for sure the device will come with the state of the art Gorilla Glass 4 for the screen protection which has the extra features like Antibacterial and anti glare glass types used for the future smartphones.
2- Operating System (Android 4.5 Lollipop):
The Google Nexus 6 will surely come up with the latest Android operating system and this time every one is talking about the Android 4.5 Lollipop and is expected to be released in the next Google I/O to be held on 25th June 2014 along with the Nexus 6 device as well. The latest Google Android OS will have the bubble view features loaded in device along side the integration of Google Wearable devices like Google watch and Google Glass, the most expensive Google project yet.
The Android 4.5 lollipop will also come with some new UI changes including more flat icons as seen in leaked images posted on manyacross the web.
3- Processor and RAM (Power Under the hood):
No doubt one of the most crucial feature of the device is that how much power it has under the hood and it depend on the processor and the amount of RAM it comes with. The Google Nexus 6 has no reports of having the latest Octa-Core processor chipped inside. So we can expect a betterQuad-Core processor with 3 GHz of processing speed and will be supported with the 3GB of internal RAM.
Other than this there is most probably an Adreno 330+ GPU for the graphics support as found in the previous series of Nexus devices.
4- Camera :
One of the most important features found in high end Android devices is some awesome cameras they have mounted on their back. The Nexus 6 will also have the state of the art 13 megapixel main camera on the back and another 5 megapixel unit on the front for better video chat and some fresh selfies experience.
There are rumors that the main/back camera will have the capacity to shoot 4K videos loaded with the most acclaimed Optical image stabilization feature. Beside this the stock Android 4.5 Lollipop is expected to have a whole new camera app loaded with some special features to get most out of the camera.
As always Google won’t believe on giving too much storage on the device rather they like their customers to use the cloud storage online. So the Google Nexus 6 will also lack the micro SD card slot but will come in better storage variants as compared to Nexu 4 and Nexus 5.
The minimum built in storage variant will have the 32GB of memory on board while there will be 2 other versions with 64GB and 128GB storage on board. Which I think are enough for a device running Stock Android OS as it doesn’t require much space to store the system files as compared to the custom UI made by companies like Samsung, Sony or HTC which consumes 1 – 2 GB of internal storage to save their system files.
6- Special Features:
The Google Nexus 6 is reported to have some special features which include the new retina and finger sensors on board for the seceurity and the thermo and health sensors as found in the latest Galaxy S5 for health. This means that the Nexus 6 will be a more secure device and the phone access will be limited to the authorized usage. While the health sensors will be made integrated with the Google Watch or Google Glass to get more accurate data and information for the user.
So finally we can say that the Google Nexus 6 will be a complete Stock Android loaded smartphone which will have all the features you might want in any high end Android device. So you can wait for this device as it will most expected to be announced in coming Google I/O 2014 conference to be held on June 25th this year. The price tags would also be lower as compared to other high end android devices available in the market now.
Meanwhile we have found some interesting images made by some Nexus series enthusiast showing the future Nexus 6 design in this gallery.
