How to fix your iPhone 4, 4S &5 Activation error when updating to iOS 7.

Apple has released the iOS 7 a couple of days ago before the release of their next Generation of iPhones, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. But it is quite resolve able and today we will let you know how to get rid of this error and update your iPhone 4, iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 to the latest official update of the iOS 7, which is currently iOS 7.0.2.

For this you have to first Restore your device to an Official firmware by connecting t to iTunes. To do so follow these instructions step by step to fix your iPhone 4, 4S & 5 Activation error while updating to iOS 7.

Step 1: First of all you must download the Official iOS 7.0.2 Firmware from this link [ Here]

Step 2: Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes which is iTunes 11.1.1.  This is quite essential as iTunes 11.1.1 supports iOS7 updates so without it you will face the same issue.

Step 3: Now Connect your iPhone with your PC with the help of USB Cable. When your device detected by iTunes, press Shift and click on Check for the updates.

Step 4: In the browse windows select the *.ipsw file which you have downloaded from the above mentioned link respective to your device.

Step 5: The update process will start now make sure that you don’t unplug your device until the update gets finished.

That’s it you have updated to the latest and official version of iOS 7.0.2 without getting the “Activation Error”. Some important things that you should keep in mind are, you should backup and Synchronize your device with iTunes before the update process in order to retain the data you need. If during the installation you received any error of ” Find my Phone” etc , than you shuld put your iPhone into recovery mode and carry on the update again.

How to enter the device into Recovery mode: Hold the Home button and the Sleep / Wake button until the device screen goes black; Release the Sleep / Wake button, and then continue pressing the Home button until iTunes appears a probe message, then complete the firmware update via Shift (Windows) or Option (Mac) + Check for Update button.

Meanwhile for users who want to downgrade their devices to iOS 6.1.3 for iPhone 4 and 4S and iOS 6.1.4 for iPhone 5, ” It is not Possible anymore”. As Apple has stopped the signing the firmware file for this older firmware version.
