How to Get Mad Island HardWood Easily:
There are several ways to get enough Hard Wood in Mad Island.
1- Use of Explusives to upgrade regular wood to HardWood:
If you gather more regular wood earlier in the game, a couple of explusives can help you convert those regular woods into hardwood to be used in the game.
2- Daily Logs Spawn:
Players can have early daily 2-3 logs spawn to get the chance to gather Hardwood in the game. The more you play the better is the chance to unlock the hardwood trees and seeds to plant those hard wod tress on your farm.
3- Jack and Kira’s House:
Playing the game further you’ll eventually unlock an area just right beside Jack and Kira’s house where fallen logs just respawn. An area above it too, just up the staircase opens to an area with trees that give hardwood.
4- 6 Early Mad Island Hardwood locations:
Collect 6 early Hardwood around your new home. You can destroy all logs in your farm with the help of explusives to get several hundred hardwoods.
5- Cutting Logs with Golden Axe:
If you eventually get the Golden Axe early in the game (try cheat codes), you can easily turn all those logs in your form to Hard wood needed to build special items. There is a section of forest that unlocks after you have completed 6 of the temple offerings. Doesn’t matter which ones as long as it’s 6. I’ve heard 2-3 logs appear a day in my personal experience so far it has be 1-2 logs and each gives between 5-7 hardwood as well as some regular wood.
6- Enhance Foraging Skill:
By working on your foraging skill you can have a better chance of over 5% in early stages to obtain the hardwood from the normal trees around your farm. Additionally there are extra foraging skill that ups the chance of getting hardwood from regular trees.
7- Graveyard Area for Extra Hard Wood:
The graveyard area of the forest unlocks after 6 offerings and spawns 1 log per day that can be broken with a silver axe for 5-7 hardwood. If you skip a day a second log will spawn, but only 2 can be up at a time.
Other tips to gather more Hardwood in Mad Island:
The deeper forest area unlocks after 12(?) offerings. There are 2 logs that spawn per day in the dig site area, as well as poplar/mahogany trees (about 12 of them) south of King Tan that are worth 20-25 hardwood each and drop seeds so that you can grow them on your farm. The trees respawn in ~2 weeks. Up to 4 logs can be up at a time. This area is worth hundreds of hardwood per month, but a lot of people don’t recognize that the trees are different, I guess, cause no one talks about it.
At Town rank B you can buy it from the carpenter, although why you’d need to do that when you can get several hundred for free is beyond me.
Fantastic comprehensive list, missing one thing. The giant temple from Kenny’s heart events has a hardwood log across the door. Really easy to miss and I found it on accident.
So for a little clarity. The fallen logs on your farm are the only ones that require the golden axe. Any other fallen logs only require the silver axe. More details on Steam Page.
My Personal Favorite:
What I did was go up to the mine area and on the right side along the water there is a stone path with a fallen log that will give you some hardwood. I used that to upgrade my axe to gold. I also unlocked the other forest area a bit after that. The six I did to unlock the area were the spring, summer and fall offerings, the ore/kelp offering, the coop offering, and honestly idr the sixth either the ocean loot or artisan goods I think.
