The future flagship devices by the Korean smartphone makers have been already in revealed in an event on 1st of March at MWC Barcelona. In this event Samsung presenter described some of the features of the upcoming Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, while ignoring some of the most talked about features in leaked reports on different sites even before the launch of these devices. We will look into the Top 5 Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge features and describe for you how these smartphones will bring some new addition to the smartphone world.
So the current Samsung Flagship pair has quite much to offer then you may know about it yet. Still all eyes are on the shape and design, and the all metal uni-body makeover that everyone has talked about and lot of woo’s by the Apple fans that these devices are an iPhone clones. But they have too many more features which the world didn’t explored yet.
1- Design and Build Quality:
The best and most talked about feature that will catch your eyes once you look at the device is the total new build quality and design, especially the Galaxy S6 Edge which looks more like a device from the future. Thanks to the designers behind the scene who finally decided to ditch the same old plastic over an entirely new design overhaul with the addition of uni body metal and glass instead of the lighter polycarbon material.
As seen in images above the uni body metal housing and the way they blended Gorilla Glass 4 in to the edges simply make it one of the best designed smartphone of this year and Samsung can now beat HTC or even Apple in this category as well. Though there are so many shouts about the iPhone design copy as the both the devices have their speakers, USB ports and the Headphone jack at the bottom which resembles the one found on the iPhone 5S and the round edges to the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus design.
Although with this design Samsung had to sacrifice their main features like battery removing and microSD Card slot for extendable storage, but they still have more to offer with the design which really is more appealing then ever before. Adding to the high-quality appeal, the body has been kept reasonably thin at 6.8mm for a proper balance between handling, appearance and battery capacity.
2- Improved Camera of Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge:
The camera on both devices have quite some improvements with increase of the megapixels and wider angle lens. The main camera of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have a 16 megapixel unit which is mounted on the back of the device as seen in the images. The camera features the same Sony made IMX 240 imager which has been seen in the Galaxy Note 4 unit recently.
The standard ratio of the pictures has been set to 16:9 and the images that it can capture has a high resolution up to 5,312 x 2,988 pixels. The camera has a wide angle lens 1/2.6″ diagonal and 1.2µm pixel size. Beside this there is an upgraded fast lens mounted inside with the f1.9 aperture as seen in some of the Galaxy A series devices previously.
The mos important and most acclaimed feature that has change the smartphone camera forever is the OIS feature known as Optical Image Stabilization feature which makes the difference between the official camera and smartphone camera even more narrow. The ability to shoot 4K videos seems to be a simpler feature in these Camera features loaded smartphones and both Galaxy S6 devices are quite well regarding this feature as well. Video recording as compared to frame rates are given as – 2160p@30fps (4K), 1080p@60fps and high-speed 720p@120fps, HDR mode available
3- Latest TouchWiz:
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge got the Android 5.0 Lollipop straight from out of the box, moreover the devices will have the refreshed and well designed Samsung TouchWiz overlay. The new icons offered and the settings menu are well grouped and are even easier to access. This is much more in tact with stock Android user Interface that we used to with the Nexus series of devices.
4- Samsung Pay:
Beside this the most important feature that every one would love to have on their devices is the Samsung Pay. This new feature is the most talked about feature in the modern smartphones as the owner will not need any hard copies of their credit or debit cards, instead all they have to do is touch their devices with the card readers and they will accept the cards.
The beauty of this latest Samsung Pay features added in these Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices is that it will work anywhere, if there is a magnetic stripe credit or debit card is accepted and a rough estimates show that there are around 10 million such points worldwide. While on the other hand the Apple Pay requires merchants to equip their POS terminals with the dedicated system to get their Payment system start working. You can read more about the difference between these both services here.
5: Performance of the Exynos Processor:
Both Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have the most amazingly speedy processor under the hood. The release of Exynos 7420 which is a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57 Octa Core series processors can be regarded as the most powerful device to be found in the market currently and is supported with 3GB of RAM and another Mali-T760 GPU for better graphics performance.
This can be seen in the graph below showing the GeekBench test of both these devices with the current High End devices currently available in the market. You can see the performance graph below.
