How to fix iOS 8 “Software Update failed” Error.

iOS 8 OTA Download, iOS 8 Download error, iOS 8 server error

Finally we have the iOS 8 update released for the public now and all users who are using iPhone 4S or newer, iPad 2 or newer version can update their iDevices accordingly. The firmware has been just released so if you are the one who forgot to check their Software update section should just tap into it right now to get the latest iOS 8 update.

Those of you who have iPhone 4 are not illegible for this update so better stay with your Jailbreak iOS 7.1, but others who have iPhone 4s, 5, 5C,5S and have jailbroken their devices should update their devices to iOS 7.1.2 right now to get the iOS 8 OTA update notification. You can read more about upgrading here.

Now coming back to the iOS 8 OTA update some users have been complaining about the “Software Update Failed” error when they tried to update their iDevices to the latest iOS 8 firmware version. Or in some cases the people have been seeing the “Server Couldn’t be Contacted” error which pops up on their screens whenever they try to update their device.

Those who are recieving these errors shouldn’t get worried about it at all. As their must be immense pressure on those Apple servers as millions of seekers want to juice the iOS 8 update right now. This had happened previously as well when people downloaded iOS 7 last year, rolled out in the same dates.

So be patience and wait for the right time. To update your device all you need to do is

1- Go to Settings.

2- Inside Settings tap on General

3- Then tap on to Software Update.

The device will contact the servers and if there is an Update ( i.e iOS 8) it will start to download it. But keep in mind that the iOS 8 update is huge and it ranges around 900 mb to 1.1 GB. I have the 920 mb file to be downloaded here. But read the next notification here. It requires 4.6 GB of storage to be installed so you need to empty your buckets to get this monster update.
