Twitter has been famous of introducing the new #Hashtags in promoting certain topics or to determine the popularity of that topic. Developers at Facebook are already working to include this feature in Facebook. #Hashtags for Facebook will determine the popularity of a certain topic and any fb user will be able to add it on their status. The module is in testing phase and we already have noticed that the news Feeds with # tags are more popular than the ordinary ones.
Th feature isn’t fully injected in to the Facebook but the one of Spokesman at the worlds largest Social Media empire confirmed the feature in an interview with Journal saying, ” We are running a small test of a unit on News Feed. Right now, it is only available to a small percentage of U.S. users, and it is still in the early stages of development.”
This new module will appear in the upper right corner of the News Feed. Which will make accessing the top trends even faster and jump in to the most popular discussion forum and share your ideas with the world as shown in the above concept image. The testing phase of this module was introduced in June this year and most developers thought to see them live by the end of August but it seems like they would need more time to implement this new feature with current News Feed design.
In an announcement made later in August a Facebook Spokesman says, ” Hashtags are just the first step to help people more easily discover what others are saying about a specific topic and participate in public conversations. We’ll continue to roll out more features in the coming weeks and months, including trending hashtags and deeper insights, that help people discover more of the world’s conversations.”
Hopefully this will be an interesting feature in Facebook and it will bring some Twitter addicts back to Facebook.
