Valor Mortis has 9 weapons: 3 blades, 3 firearms and 3 Transmutations. Every one of them is upgraded with materials you buy from the merchants James and Louis, or find in the world. The catch is Tier 4. It is never sold, and only a few pieces exist in one playthrough.

Materials needed per weapon

Every weapon in a class costs the same, no matter which one you pick.

Buying Tiers 1 to 3 for one blade or firearm costs 45,000 Catalysts. One Transmutation costs 28,000.

The Tier 4 cap: plan before you spend

This is the most important thing to know. Tier 4 materials are world finds only, and they never restock. One playthrough has:

• 3 Quintessential Blade Materials (in 2 regions)
• 2 Masterwork Firearm Parts (in 2 regions)
• 2 Quintessential Transmutation Materials (in 2 regions)

So you can only take 3 blades, 2 firearms and 2 Transmutations to max level in one run. If you spend Tier 3 materials on a fourth blade or a third firearm, you can never finish it. Every blade and firearm can still reach level 9 without Tier 4, so a third firearm is fine as a level 9 backup.
