Crime Scene Cleaner Walkthrough: All Missions, Secrets, and Achievements Guide.
This complete Crime Scene Cleaner walkthrough covers every mission in Act 1 and Act 2, all cassette tape and CD locations, every secret room, how to earn a 100% deception score, and the full achievement list.
President Studio developed the game and Playway S.A. published it. Whether you are starting Chapter 0 or hunting the final Nightmare Mode disc, every answer is below.

What Is Crime Scene Cleaner? Story and Game Overview
Kovalsky is a high school janitor and single father. His wife died years ago. His daughter Elena falls critically ill, and her medical treatment costs far more than his school salary can cover.
When Tyler Novak, the son of Kovalsky’s acquaintance, kills a drug dealer named Rob and needs the scene cleaned up, Big Jim notices Kovalsky’s work. Big Jim is the local mob boss. He recruits Kovalsky to clean crime scenes across the city, and Kovalsky accepts because Elena’s treatment depends on the money.
Between missions, Kovalsky returns to his home apartment. Elena sends emails from the hospital as the story progresses. By the end of Act 1, her discharge is approaching.
Act 2 begins after Elena leaves the hospital. Kovalsky tries to retire from crime cleaning and return to normal life. However, Amber, Big Jim’s daughter, discovers Elena’s existence and threatens Kovalsky. This forces him back into the criminal underworld for a second round of increasingly dangerous cleanups.
The Nightmare Mode arc villain is the Wicked One. This entity is a manifestation of Kovalsky’s guilt. It haunts twisted versions of each completed mission across all Nightmare maps.

How Many Missions Are in Crime Scene Cleaner?
Players frequently ask this before buying or before starting Act 2. Here is the direct answer.
There are 10 missions in Act 1, including Chapter 0 as the tutorial. Act 2 adds 5 more missions. Every standard mission has a Nightmare Mode version. Community maps provide player-created content beyond the main story.
| Act | Missions | Content Type |
|---|---|---|
| Act 1 | 10 missions (Chapters 0 to 9) | Main story missions |
| Act 2 | 5 missions | Expanded story content released March 26, 2026 |
| Nightmare Mode | 15 versions | Advanced difficulty per standard mission |

The total available missions across all modes currently exceeds 25, not counting Community maps.
Before You Start: How Crime Scene Cleaner Works
Most players jump straight into the first mission and struggle with invisible blood stains and broken vases. Understanding the core systems first saves significant replay time.
The Deception Score System

The deception score determines whether Kovalsky gets paid and the mission counts as complete. At the end of each mission, the game calculates the total score from five components. All five must reach their thresholds for a 100% result.
| Component | Requirement for 100% |
|---|---|
| Blood removal | Clean every stain, including invisible phosphorescent blood |
| Trash collection | Pick up every piece of trash in the level |
| Furniture | Return all items to their original ghost-silhouette positions |
| Bodies | Dispose of every body in the mission |
| Evidence | Collect every piece of evidence in the level |
Invisible blood stains are the most common reason players get stuck at 97% to 99% blood removal. Use the Luminol Spray to reveal phosphorescent blood that the naked eye cannot detect. Unlock it early in the skill tree.
Breaking fragile objects like vases, wine glasses, and electronics creates additional trash and blocks the Smooth Operator achievement. Use the sponge near fragile items. Never use the mop or power washer near anything breakable.
Skill Tree Priority Guide

Unlock these tools in this order for the smoothest early-game experience.
| Priority | Tool or Skill | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Power Washer upgrade | Essential for large blood splatters and outdoor areas |
| 2 | Luminol Spray | Finds invisible blood that blocks 100% scores |
| 3 | Ladder | Required for secrets in Italian Job and Affair with Death |
| 4 | Ozone Machine | Place it after all bodies and trash are removed |
| 5 | General: Strength | Lets you carry more trash bags per trip |
| 6 | General: Industrial Bin | Mandatory for large missions like Party’s Over and Modern Art |
In Act 2, unlock Pat on the Back 1 and Pat on the Back 2 from the General skill tree category. These passive bonuses improve high-volume cleanup efficiency in larger maps.
Cleaning Order Strategy
Follow this order inside every room to avoid tracking blood into clean areas.
- Pick up all evidence and clues first.
- Collect all trash before mopping anything.
- Move furniture back to its correct position.
- Clean blood last, starting at the farthest point from the exit.
- Never walk over unmopped blood. Your boots carry blood to clean floors and create new stains.
Start cleaning from the room closest to the water source and work outward. This minimizes bucket refill trips and keeps clean and dirty zones clearly separated.
Tools Explained
- Mop: Standard cleaning for hard floors. Keep it away from all breakable objects.
- Sponge: Use on rugs, carpets, paintings, and any area near glass or ceramics. The sponge does not break fragile items.
- Power Washer: For outdoor areas, concrete surfaces, and large pools of blood.
- Bucket: Fill with water first, then add up to 3 detergent packets. Adding detergent before water wastes product if the bucket tips.
- Luminol Spray: Apply to walls and floors where blood removal percentage is stuck. Reveals phosphorescent stains invisible under normal light.
- Ozone Machine: Place it in the mission area only after every body and piece of trash is removed. It eliminates crime scene odor.
Useful Game Mechanics
- Cleaner Sense (Q on PC, Y on console): Highlights misplaced items, remaining evidence, and unfinished objectives. Use it in every room before moving to the next area.
- Mission Replay: Use the computer in Kovalsky’s home apartment to replay any completed mission. Replaying earns cash toward the Money, Money, Money achievement.
- Hacking: Some missions protect doors or surveillance systems behind numpad codes or computer hacking. Hacking is a simple timing mini-game. Click when the slider reaches the correct zone. Stay calm and do not rush.
Home Apartment Secrets (Between Missions)
No walkthrough covers this. Kovalsky’s apartment is not just a transition screen between missions. It contains achievements, story content, and a replay system.

- Dexter (the dog): Pet Dexter in the apartment a total of 15 times across multiple visits to unlock the Happy Together achievement. You do not need to do all 15 on one visit.
- Toaster: A toaster appears on the kitchen counter around mission 4 or 5. Pick it up and drop it into the bathtub to unlock the Electric Feel achievement. This also works from the apartment after completing later missions.
- Emails from Elena: Check the home computer between missions. Elena sends emails from the hospital that track her recovery and expand the story.
- Mission Replay: Use the apartment computer to access and replay any completed mission. This is the primary method for collecting missed cassettes and farming cash for Money, Money, Money.
- Apartment Toilet: Flush the apartment toilet for progress toward the Down By The River achievement. This achievement requires flushing one toilet in every mission plus the apartment itself. Check the apartment toilet after your very first mission.
Crime Scene Cleaner Walkthrough: All Act 1 Missions
Follow the missions below in order. Each section covers key evidence, bodies, secrets, cassette tape locations, notable achievements, and tips.
Chapter 0: Bad Call (Tutorial Mission)

Bad Call is the tutorial. It teaches evidence collection, body disposal, and blood cleaning in a small apartment building. Tyler, the son of Kovalsky’s acquaintance, killed a drug dealer named Rob inside. Kovalsky cleans the scene.

Secret 2 (Cassette Tape 2, Bóbr k*rw@! Achievement)
In the main apartment, find the boarded window in the far room. Smash the two boards back to back with your fists on the first attempt to unlock the Bóbr k*rw@! achievement. Take the construction lift down. Find a second boarded window and break it. Cassette Tape 2 is on the shelf next to a shrine inside the apartment beyond.
Secret 3 (Cassette Tape 3, Strawberry Fields Forever Achievement)
After unlocking Secret 1, collect the first lucky key in the hidden apartment at the back of the building next to a statue. Collect the second lucky key at the base of the construction lift area. Open the first gate with the first key, then the second gate with the second key. Cassette Tape 3 is on the heater. Also pick up the fertilizer in this room to unlock Strawberry Fields Forever.
Key Achievements in Bad Call
- Dirty Deeds Done Cheap: Complete the mission.
- Bitter Sweet Symphony: Play a cassette tape for the first time.
- Bóbr k*rw@!: Smash two wooden boards back to back on the first attempt in Secret 2.

Chapter 1: Trial by Blood
Trial by Blood is set in a luxury spa and pool complex. It introduces keycards, the hacking mini-game, and a multi-step VIP access chain.

Mission Context
Five bodies are spread across the pool hall, sauna, and solarium. Kovalsky must locate every body and all eight pieces of evidence while navigating locked areas that require specific keycards to access.
Bodies (5)

In the code-locked room after you hack the digital door. The tape is on the desk inside.
Secret 1: Gold on the Ceiling Achievement (VIP Card Chain)
- Collect the W024 keycard from the tanning room.
- Open locker W024 with the card. Retrieve the M034 keycard from inside.
- Use M034 to open locker M034 and find the VIP card.
- Take the VIP card to the water control room.
- Use the VIP card on the VIP door beside the pool to enter the secret VIP area.
- Cassette Tape 2 is on the desk inside. Collect it. Gold on the Ceiling achievement unlocks.
Secret 2 (Second Secret Area)
After collecting all locker cards and opening every locker, the second secret area becomes accessible. Follow the objective marker from the final locker location.
Pool Drain (Cassette Tape 3 and M017 Keycard)
In the water control room, use two wrenches and the valve to drain the pool. Retrieve the M017 keycard from the pool floor. Cassette Tape 3 is also accessible after draining the pool.
Key Achievement: Call Me Maybe
At the very start of the mission, Big Jim calls through the walkie-talkie on your cleaning bin. Do not answer. Ignore the call long enough for the game to register a “death” cutscene. Call Me Maybe unlocks for ignoring Big Jim’s orders.
Chapter 2: Toxic Love
Toxic Love is a two-floor mansion mission. The two victims are a human trafficker and his buyer.
Bodies (3)
- First body in the first-floor kitchen
- Second body on the second-floor bridge
- Third body inside the secret room
Evidence (7)
First floor: Phone in kitchen, brass knuckles in hall, notebook in the secret room. Second floor: Phone on bridge, gun on the floor, blades by the bathtub, note on the table.
Cassette Tape 1
On the kitchen shelf on the first floor. Easy to collect early.
Cassette Tape 2
On the desk inside the music room on the second floor.
Secret 1: Get Lucky Achievement
On the first floor, find the room behind the painting. Inside is a small corridor with a chair facing a second painting. Interact with the second painting to reveal a hidden safe. Hack the safe to unlock Get Lucky and collect the valuables inside.

Secret 2: Living Room Hidden Cabinet
In the living room, look for the cabinet under the right bookshelf below a gold collectible item. Open it to find the hidden room.
Achievement: Pyramid Song
In the bathroom, find the toilet paper pyramid. Remove every single roll of toilet paper from the stack to unlock Pyramid Song. Pick up the toilet key from the first floor toilet to access the pyramid room.
Flush a toilet in this mission for progress toward the Down By The River achievement. The toilet key found on the first floor toilet gives access to this.
Chapter 3: Short Circuit
Short Circuit is the haunted house mission. Most of the supernatural activity is staged by a hacker. However, some elements point to the ghost of the family’s deceased cat, Czarek, as a genuine presence that resists easy explanation.
Starting Step
Switch on the power before cleaning anything. The power panel is in the large area marked “Power” on the lower floor of the building.
Evidence
- Speaker next to a flower pot and a chair near the entrance (first piece)
- Crucifix on the upstairs floor (second piece)
- Additional items become visible once the power is active
Cassette Tape 1
On the kitchen shelf. Collect it early before cleaning the kitchen area.
Cassette Tape 2
On the desk inside the music room on the second floor.
Secret 1: Hail to the King Achievement
Enter the living room on the first floor. A cat video begins playing on the TV automatically. Stay in the room and watch the full video to unlock Hail to the King.
Secret 2: Another Brick in the Wall Achievement
Go to the second floor. Find the pull-chain lamp on the wall. Pull the lamp. A hidden room opens behind the wall. Enter the hidden room to unlock Another Brick in the Wall.

Short Circuit triggers environmental effects such as doors closing on their own and lights flickering. These effects are intentional and are not bugs. Continue cleaning and do not restart the mission.
Chapter 4: Italian Job
Italian Job is a luxury Italian villa mission. The Ladder is required for at least one secret in this level. Unlock it in the skill tree before starting Italian Job or you will be unable to reach a secret room.
The True Cleaner version of Italian Job rewards Kovalsky with a Suit and Gloves outfit on completion. This outfit is available from the True Cleaner mode menu.
The Money For Nothing achievement is available in this mission. Find the hidden money stash inside a secret compartment triggered by a switch or button inside one of the villa rooms.
Chapter 5: Affair with Death
Affair with Death is a longer mission set across a larger property. The Ladder is also required for at least one secret in this map.
In the basement, locate the passageway blocked by items in the back left corner behind a body. Clear the passage to discover a hidden area.
The Affair with Death Nightmare map contains the Night Radio music disc at a specific location in the basement section. Track the disc location from the standard mission layout.
Chapter 6: Friendly Fire
Friendly Fire contains three playable guitars that unlock the Rock On achievement. In the back music room, find and play all three guitar types: Bass, Acoustic, and Electric. Playing all three in one session is the most efficient method.
The gambling room in The Italian Job contains additional guitars if you miss a specific type during Friendly Fire. Return to Italian Job and play the missing type there. In the updated patch of the game mentioned in the Fandom wiki community, most of the old tactics have been changed.
Chapter 7: Party’s Over
Party’s Over is a large warehouse-style level. The Industrial Bin tool from the General skill tree is the single most useful item for managing the volume of trash in this mission. Unlock it before starting Party’s Over if you have the skill points available.
Chapter 8: Modern Art

Modern Art is the penultimate Act 1 mission. It holds the largest location in Act 1 with 10 bodies, a T-Rex skeleton assembly puzzle, the TV color puzzle, the Katana chamber, and 4 cassette tapes.
For the complete breakdown of every art piece location, all 9 T-Rex bone positions, the full TV color solution, and the Nightmare Mode portal system, see the dedicated Crime Scene Cleaner Art Piece Locations guide.
Key highlights for this mission:
- T-Rex requires 9 bones returned to the skeleton in the Central Exhibition. Collect and deposit each bone immediately after finding it.
- TV color puzzle solution: Upper Left Pink, Lower Left Orange, Upper Middle White, Lower Middle Blue, Upper Right Green, Lower Right White.
- Rage Against the Machine achievement: Set all six TVs to the correct colors, enter the Katana chamber, pick up the Katana, and defeat all nine mannequins.
- Cassette Tape 1: Table near the fire alarm in the Red Room at mission start.
- Cassette Tape 2 (KOKKO KANN): Stage floor in the West Wing bandstand after the mannequin puzzle triggers the lights-out event.
- Cassette Tape 3: Duck Room corridor on the floor near a chest.
- Cassette Tape 4: Console table in the East Wing Red Room.
Chapter 9: Call in Dead
Call in Dead is the final Act 1 mission. It takes place in Big Jim’s warehouse. Do not start cleaning before activating the generator or large sections of the level will be inaccessible.
Starting Steps
- Enter the warehouse from the parking garage level.
- Climb the stairs and open the main doors.
- Turn right and locate the area labeled “Power.”
- Go down the stairs, turn left, and follow the lower path to the generator.
- Activate the generator. The warehouse lights up.
After Power Activation
Start cleaning at the truck parked near the main entrance. Two bodies and several evidence items are in and around the truck before the main floor area.
The Colorful Room on the upper floor is the most visually complex area. Color-coordinate the crates by matching each crate color to the corresponding colored shelf unit. This restores the room and clears the furniture task.
How to Start Crime Scene Cleaner Act 2
This question has one clear answer and only one competitor covers it at all.
Act 2 unlocks automatically after you complete all 10 Act 1 missions. After finishing Chapter 9: Call in Dead, look for the mission titled “Go to sleep” in the top left corner of your map screen. Starting “Go to sleep” triggers the Act 2 prologue and unlocks Amber Alert as the first Act 2 mission.
Act 2 Story Context
Elena leaves the hospital at the start of Act 2. Kovalsky tries to leave the underworld. Amber, Big Jim’s daughter, learns about Elena and uses her as leverage to force Kovalsky back into crime cleaning. Act 2 also follows the corruption of Senator Holden and ultimately ends with Big Jim meeting his end at Amber’s hands.
Before starting Act 2, spend remaining skill points on the Power Washer, Luminol Spray, and Ladder if not already unlocked. Act 2 maps are significantly larger and more complex than any Act 1 mission.
Crime Scene Cleaner Act 2 Walkthrough
Act 2 introduces five missions with larger environments, more complex environmental puzzles, and CDs replacing cassette tapes as the collectible. Two new General skill tree abilities are also available: Pat on the Back 1 and Pat on the Back 2.
Act 2 missions hide small trash items inside walls, including shurikens, darts, and bullets. Use Cleaner Sense frequently in dark corners. These tiny items are the most common reason for incomplete trash percentages in Act 2.
Amber Alert

Amber Alert is the largest mission in the game. It features 12 or more bodies across a sprawling nightclub, boxing ring, and hidden trafficking hub.
CD 1: Beer Barrel Puzzle
- Find the barrel marked “Elder Gnome” near the kitchen entrance.
- Take it to the left side of the bucket refill point.
- Press the button to descend into the cellar.
- Place barrels on the pipes in the correct order to open the hatch.
- CD 1 is inside the hatch compartment.
Dartboard Secret: Dave’s Lair (Turtle Bucket Skin)
Go to the bar back room. Find the dartboard and interact with it. Score exactly 301 on the dartboard. The door to Dave’s Lair opens and contains the Turtle Bucket equipment skin.
CD 2
In the winner’s changing room on the bench. Collectible during normal exploration.
CD 3
Through the door with the snake skeleton at the exit of the Lounges area. Climb the stairs to find stone ruins and a painting on the left. The CD is beyond this point.
Secluded Retreat (White Peaks Hotel)

Secluded Retreat takes place across a luxury spa and hotel called the White Peaks Hotel. It contains 11 or more bodies and multiple environmental puzzles.
Monkey Statue Puzzle
In the spa area, find three pedestals for monkey statues. The statues represent “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.” Two monkeys are near the base of their pedestals. The third is hidden under a painting of a blind samurai. Place all three on the correct pedestals.
Root Wall Secret (CD)
Place a ladder against the spa wall. Climb up and break the roots blocking the tunnel entrance. Crawl through the tunnel to find a collectible CD inside.
Light Beam Puzzle
Near the main gate, find a torch and a shovel. Follow the direction the torchlight beam points. It leads to a hidden hut that contains extra loot.
Circle of Friends
Circle of Friends is set in a villa owned by people connected to Senator Holden’s corruption network.
Rubber Duck Coffin Puzzle
Find the room containing the chained coffin. Locate and destroy five black rubber ducks hidden throughout the room. Destroying all five unlocks the reward item inside the coffin area.
Senator Holden’s recordings, found in Secluded Retreat, provide direct context for the events in Circle of Friends. Playing them in order reveals the full conspiracy connecting the villa to Holden’s political dealings.
Town Too Small
Town Too Small is the largest outdoor mission in the game, with 8 or more bodies spread across a community-scale environment. The map has wide outdoor sections that require the Power Washer for surface cleaning and the Ladder to access elevated areas.
Nightmare Mode Guide

No standard walkthrough article covers Nightmare Mode in full. It is not a separate campaign. It is an advanced difficulty version of every standard mission, available after completing the regular version.
How to Access Nightmare Mode
Go to your truck. Open the map screen. Select Nightmare Mode and choose the mission. Start the mission.
Key Differences from Standard Mode
- Environments are significantly darker. Use your flashlight actively throughout each mission.
- Cleaning requirements are stricter. Items and stains that pass in standard mode may still fail in Nightmare.
- Cassette tapes are replaced by music discs (Onyx Discs in some missions). Finding every disc contributes to the We are the Sound achievement.
- The Wicked One is the Nightmare Mode arc villain. This entity is a manifestation of Kovalsky’s guilt. It appears across Nightmare missions and escalates in presence as you progress through the Nightmare campaign.
Bad Call Nightmare Mode Disc
- Go to the attic in the regular attic area.
- Find the Polaroid camera near a string of four faded photographs on the wall.
- Take the camera and photograph all four locations shown in the wall photographs: attic, rooftop, yard, and downstairs apartment.
- Return to the sealed secret door with the completed photographs.
- The door unlocks. The music disc is inside.
Completing every Nightmare Mode mission unlocks the Sweet Dreams achievement. Nightmare Mode is required for several high-tier achievements and is not optional for 100% completion.

Frequently Asked Questions About Crime Scene Cleaner
How long is Crime Scene Cleaner?
A first playthrough of all 10 Act 1 missions takes approximately 8 to 12 hours without targeting 100% scores. Adding Act 2’s five missions extends the total by 8 to 10 hours. Full 100% completion covering perfect deception scores on every mission, all cassettes and CDs, all achievements, and every Nightmare Mode mission requires 25 to 30 hours. Nightmare Mode alone adds another 8 to 12 hours on top of the standard completion time.
How many missions are in Crime Scene Cleaner?
Act 1 contains 10 missions starting with Chapter 0 (Bad Call) and ending with Chapter 9 (Call in Dead). Act 2, released on March 26, 2026, adds 5 additional missions: Amber Alert, Secluded Retreat, Circle of Friends, Town Too Small, and the Things Left Behind prologue. Every standard mission also has a Nightmare Mode version. Community maps add further optional content beyond the main story, bringing the total available missions well above 25.
How do you get a 100% deception score in Crime Scene Cleaner?
A 100% deception score requires cleaning every blood stain (use Luminol Spray to reveal invisible phosphorescent stains), collecting all trash, disposing of every body, returning all furniture to its correct ghost-silhouette position using Cleaner Sense, and collecting every piece of evidence in the level. Avoid breaking any fragile objects, as each break generates additional trash. If stuck at 97% to 99% blood removal, apply Luminol Spray to every wall and floor surface in rooms you have already cleaned, because invisible stains are the most frequent cause of incomplete scores.
What skill tree upgrades should you prioritize in Crime Scene Cleaner?
Unlock the Power Washer upgrade first for handling large blood splatters and outdoor surfaces. Then unlock the Luminol Spray to find invisible blood stains that block 100% scores. The Ladder is required for secrets in Italian Job and Affair with Death, so unlock it before reaching Chapter 4. After those three priorities, invest in General skill tree Strength for carrying more trash bags and the Industrial Bin for high-volume missions. In Act 2, unlock Pat on the Back 1 and Pat on the Back 2 from the General category for passive cleanup efficiency bonuses.
How do you unlock Nightmare Mode in Crime Scene Cleaner?
Nightmare Mode unlocks for each mission individually after you complete the standard version of that mission. Go to your truck, open the map screen, select Nightmare Mode, and start the mission. Nightmare Mode features darker environments, stricter cleaning thresholds, and replaces cassette tapes with hidden music discs. The Wicked One, a manifestation of Kovalsky’s guilt, appears as the recurring antagonist across all Nightmare missions. Completing every Nightmare mission earns the Sweet Dreams achievement.
