Consensus of Game8 (Version 7.2, updated Nov 6 2026) and Mobalytics (patch 7.2). Each character gets the average of both placements. S+ means both lists put the character in their top tier. Aloy is left out because only one of the two lists ranks her.

Genshin Impact Version 7.2 characters by tier and role

Best Genshin Impact characters in Version 7.2

S+: Columbina, Mavuika, Odette, Sandrone, Sucrose, Traveler (Cryo), Vesna. Both Game8 and Mobalytics put these in their top tier, so they are the safest pulls if you want to clear Stygian Onslaught on Fearless and full star Spiral Abyss.

S: Citlali, Flins, Ineffa, Lauma, Linnea, Mitya, Nefer, Wriothesley, Yae Miko, Zibai, Bennett, Cyno, Iansan, Nicole, Yumemizuki Mizuki, Chevreuse, Vodyanitsa. Very strong picks that one list rates a step lower than the other.

The meta in 7.2 is built around Lunar and Stellar teams. Columbina, Ineffa, Lauma and Linnea power the Lunar carries Flins, Nefer and Zibai, while Odette and Yae Miko make Stellar-Conduct teams with Sandrone, Vesna and the new Mitya work.

Best character for each role

Main DPS: Mavuika, Sandrone, Traveler (Cryo), Vesna.
Sub-DPS: Columbina, Odette, Ineffa, Lauma.
Support: Sucrose, Citlali, Bennett, Iansan.

Cheap 4-star characters worth building

You do not need only limited 5-stars. Sucrose (S+), Bennett (S), Chevreuse (S) and Fischl (A) are easy to get and still fit many top teams. Build them early and they stay useful for a long time.

How we ranked

We used two tier lists made for current endgame content: Game8’s Version 7.2 tier list (updated November 6, 2026, after the 7.2 phase 1 release) and the Mobalytics Genshin Impact tier list for patch 7.2. Game8 ranks each character by role, so we took each character’s best role. Both lists’ tiers were turned into a score from 0 to 1 and every character got the average of the two.

Tiers assume Constellation 0 without the signature weapon for limited 5-stars, like both source lists do. The role shown is the one Game8 rates highest. The two lists disagree most on older carries like Neuvillette and Furina, which Game8 still rates higher than Mobalytics, so check the tap card before you spend on them. You can read more about the game itself on Wikipedia.

FAQ

Who is the best character in Genshin Impact right now?

In Version 7.2 the top characters are Columbina, Mavuika, Odette, Sandrone, Sucrose, Traveler (Cryo), Vesna. Both tier lists we checked rate them in their highest tier.

Is Mitya worth pulling?

Mitya is S tier in our consensus. He is a strong Electro Main DPS for Stellar-Conduct teams and can also play as a support, so he is a good pull if you already have Odette or Yae Miko.

Is Furina still good in 7.2?

Furina is A tier. Game8 still rates her highly as a support, but Mobalytics has her lower because newer Lunar and Stellar teams do not need her.

Who is the best support in Genshin Impact?

Sucrose, Citlali, Bennett, Iansan are the best supports right now.

Which Genshin characters are the weakest?

The lowest ranked characters include Kaveh, Ningguang, Shikanoin Heizou, Traveler (Anemo), Traveler (Geo), Traveler (Hydro), Xinyan, Yanfei. They can still clear the story and the open world, but they struggle in Stygian Onslaught and Spiral Abyss.

How often is this Genshin tier list updated?

We update it with every new version and when a new character gets ranked. The version and date at the top of the board show when it last changed.
