JoinPD.com: How to Join a Pear Deck Session With a Code (2026)
JoinPD.com is the student join page for Pear Deck. Go to joinpd.com, type the 6-letter Join Code your teacher shows on the board, and you are in the lesson. If the code fails, it has probably expired (codes only last one week) or you are signed into the wrong Google or Microsoft account. Fixes for every error are below.
Quick answer: how to join Pear Deck
- Open joinpd.com in any browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari).
- Enter the 6-letter Join Code from your teacher. Letters only, no spaces.
- Sign in with your school Google or Microsoft 365 account if asked.
- The lesson opens. Answer the questions on your screen.
What Is JoinPD.com?
JoinPD (short for “join Pear Deck”) is the address students use to enter a live Pear Deck session. Pear Deck is a classroom add-on, now part of GoGuardian, that turns Google Slides and PowerPoint lessons into interactive presentations. Your teacher presents the slides, and you answer multiple-choice, text, drawing and draggable questions from your own device.
You do not need to download anything. JoinPD works in a normal web browser on a Chromebook, laptop, iPad or phone.
How to Join a Pear Deck Session With a Code
- Go to joinpd.com. Type it straight into the address bar. Searching for “join pd” often shows look-alike sites, so typing the address is safer.
- Type the Join Code. It is shown at the top of your teacher’s projected slide. The current Pear Deck docs say it is six letters. It is not case-sensitive, so “abcdef” and “ABCDEF” both work.
- Press Join.
- Sign in if prompted. If your teacher turned on named join, pick your school Google or Microsoft 365 account. Your name then appears next to your answers.
- Wait for the teacher. In a teacher-paced lesson, your screen follows the teacher’s slide. In Student-Paced Mode, you move through the slides yourself.
How to Join With a Link (Google Classroom)
Teachers can also share a Join Link in Google Classroom, by email, or in a chat. Clicking it takes you straight into the session without typing a code. Join Links are permanent, while Join Codes expire after one week. So if an older code no longer works, ask your teacher for the link.
Named Join vs Anonymous Join
| Mode | Sign-in needed? | What the teacher sees |
|---|---|---|
| Named (email) join | Yes, school Google or Microsoft 365 account | Your name next to each answer |
| Anonymous join | No | A random animal nickname instead of your name |
Your teacher picks the mode, not you. If you are asked to sign in, the session requires named join.
JoinPD Not Working? Fixes for Common Problems
“Invalid code” or the session won’t open
- Check every letter with your teacher. Common mix-ups: I and L, O and Q.
- Remove spaces and numbers. Join Codes are letters only.
- If the lesson was more than a week ago, the code has expired. Ask for the Join Link instead.
Signed in with the wrong Google account
Click your profile picture in the browser, sign out of your personal Gmail, then rejoin and choose your school account. Pear Deck remembers the last account you used on that device.
“You don’t have access” or domain blocked
Your school only allows school-issued accounts. Use your school email, or ask your teacher or IT admin.
The Google Classroom link opens an old lesson
Every new session creates a new link. Ask your teacher to post the current code or link, or go to joinpd.com and type today’s code.
Screen is frozen or locked
Your teacher may have locked student screens to talk to the class. Wait for them to unlock it. If nothing has changed after a minute, refresh the page. Your answers are saved automatically.
Page won’t load at all
- Try a different browser, or an incognito or private window.
- Clear cookies for joinpd.com and peardeck.com.
- Check your Wi-Fi. If the internet works elsewhere but not here, see our WiFi connected but no internet fix.
Common JoinPD Misspellings
Many students type the address wrong, for example join pd, joinpd.ocm, join pd.com, joinpd.join or join pe.com. The only correct address is joinpd.com. Bookmark it so you can skip searching next time.
For Teachers: How to Give Students a Join Code
- Open your deck in Google Slides or PowerPoint with the Pear Deck add-on.
- Click Start Lesson. Pear Deck creates the session and shows the Join Code at the top of the projector view.
- Share the code aloud, or copy the Join Link into Google Classroom.
- Use the Teacher Dashboard to watch answers come in and lock screens when needed.
