OnePlus 15 Model Numbers: PLK110, CPH2745, CPH2747 and CPH2749
OnePlus uses the same model-number logic as its sister brand Oppo: the Chinese variant starts with a P, and global variants start with CPH. The Chinese OnePlus 15 is PLK110. The global model is CPH2747, according to GSMArena, which cites a SIRIM certification in Malaysia. Earlier leaks also showed CPH2745 on Geekbench, and some reports mention CPH2749. We could not confirm which regions CPH2745 and CPH2749 belong to, so check the sticker on the box before you buy a phone that you want to behave like a global model.
Software: ColorOS 16 vs OxygenOS 16
The most visible difference is the software. The Chinese phone runs ColorOS 16 and the global phone runs OxygenOS 16. For OnePlus, the global build looks a little closer to stock Android, but most features and the way the system works are the same. The Gizmochina test notes that the global version has fewer AI features, and the voice assistants differ. Chinese phones use their own assistant, while global phones almost always use Google Assistant or Gemini. You can install Gemini on a Chinese phone, but you will not be able to wake it as fast as on the global version. Notebookcheck also notes that the Chinese build supports other languages, but may include China-specific apps.
Google Play Services on the Chinese OnePlus 15
Chinese ROMs usually ship without Google Play services, so you have to set them up yourself with the built-in Google Mobile Services switch in Settings. This is the single biggest day-to-day difference for most buyers. Without Google services, apps that depend on them, such as Gmail and the Play Store, do not work until you add them. Our guide to Chinese ROM vs Global ROM explains what this means and how the install process works.
Network Bands and eSIM
Network bands are the biggest obstacle for a Chinese phone abroad, in the words of the Gizmochina reviewer. Chinese models usually lack several North American bands, such as B12, B13 and B17, which means weaker coverage in places with a poor signal. Outside North America you will see almost no difference. eSIM is a bigger issue: the Chinese OnePlus 15 has no eSIM, while the global version supports two nano-SIM cards and two eSIM profiles. If you travel often or already use an eSIM, choose the global phone.
Battery, Charging and What Is in the Box
OnePlus kept the hardware the same. Every configuration of the OnePlus 15, Chinese or global, has the full 7,300 mAh battery. That is unusual: other brands often make the battery slightly smaller on units sold outside China because of European regulations, as the Gizmochina reviewer points out with the vivo X300 and the global POCO X7 series. The box differs, though. The Chinese phone includes a case, a 120W charger and a cable. The global model usually has only the cable and manuals, because Europe and North America have stricter rules on packaging and chargers.
Warranty and Updates
Most brands, including OnePlus, require you to send a Chinese phone back to China for warranty repairs, and a local repair shop may not want to take the risk. The global phone has a clear advantage here. The same goes for updates: global OnePlus 15 owners get four major Android updates and six years of security patches, while the security patches for the Chinese version lag the global ones by a year. Some brands do not even publish a support period for their Chinese models.
Can You Flash the Global ROM on a Chinese OnePlus 15?
According to Gizmochina, the OnePlus 15 has practically no limits on unlocking the bootloader, which is a big advantage over many other brands. In theory you can buy the cheaper Chinese phone, then root it and flash the global ROM to remove most of the problems. Flashing carries risks, including data loss, a voided warranty and a phone that does not boot, so only do it if you are comfortable with the process and follow a guide made for your exact model number.
Which OnePlus 15 Should You Buy?
- Buy the global CPH2747 if you want eSIM, a local warranty, the longest update support and Google services out of the box.
- Buy the Chinese PLK110 if price matters most, you are outside North America, and you are happy to install Google services or flash the global ROM yourself.
- Skip the Chinese version if you live in North America (missing bands), rely on eSIM, or need a warranty you can use in your own country.
