How to Redeem AR Codes

You can use these AR codes Super Monkey Ball 2 fans still enter on original hardware or modern emulators. The process differs slightly for each method.

Using an Action Replay Device on GameCube

Turn on your GameCube with the Action Replay disc inserted.
Select “Add New Game” and choose “Super Monkey Ball 2” from your list.
Add the master code first, then each additional cheat using the on-screen keyboard.
Save the cheat list.
Start the game with codes enabled.

Using the Dolphin Emulator on PC

Open the Dolphin Emulator and right-click on Super Monkey Ball 2.
Select “Properties” and click the “AR Codes” tab.
Click the “Add New Code” button at the bottom.
Enter a description (e.g., “Infinite Lives”) and the code itself.
Ensure the box next to the code is checked, then close the window.
Under Dolphin’s “Options” menu, select “Configure,” then go to the “General” tab.
Crucially, check the box labeled “Enable Cheats”.
Boot the game normally; your activated codes will be working.

Benefits of Using AR Codes

These AR codes Super Monkey Ball 2 players use provide more than just easy wins. They help players practice difficult sections without frustration. Speedrunners use them to test route strategies quickly.

These Super Monkey Ball 2 codes also unlock content that might be too grindy. For instance, getting 99 lives normally takes hours of play. A single code grants it instantly. This lets you experience all the game’s content.

Best Practices and Common Mistakes

Always verify your game’s region before using codes. NTSC-U (North America) and PAL (Europe) codes are not interchangeable. Using the wrong region code can freeze your game.

On emulators, ensure the “Enable Cheats” option is on. This is the most common reason codes fail in Dolphin. Double-check the code for typos, especially zeros (0) and the letter O.

Do not activate too many codes at once. Conflicting codes can cause crashes. Start with one or two, then add more after testing. Always save your game normally before trying new codes.

Problematic Codes

Super Monkey Ball 2 AR codes do not expire since the game is a fixed retro release. Some older codes may still not function as intended. The “Unlock All Mini-Games” code sometimes only works after visiting the shop once. Other codes from early 2000s forums may be written for different game versions.

The “99 Lives Purchased” code requires you to first unlock the in-game shop. Simply having the code active is not enough. You must follow the standard unlock procedure.
