Galaxy S25 Gets Stable One UI 9 Update in the US
Samsung is expanding its stable One UI 9 rollout, with Galaxy S25 users in the US now starting to receive the Android 17-based update. The US rollout comes just days after the company kicked off the release in South Korea.

One UI 9 is Samsung’s next major software upgrade, built on Android 17. The stable release follows a beta program, and its arrival in the US suggests Samsung is accelerating the rollout to keep its flagship devices current. For Galaxy S25 owners, this is the biggest platform upgrade since the phone launched, bringing a new Android generation along with Samsung’s latest software additions.

One UI 9 Arrives for Galaxy S25 in the US
The stable One UI 9 release for the Galaxy S25 flagship trio in the US carries firmware version DZIF, while the S25 FE gets CZIF.
The size of the download will depend on the software your phone is currently running. Beta users get a much smaller update package, since most of the software is already installed. Those upgrading from One UI 8.5, however, will need to download a significantly larger package, close to 4GB. Before installing, make sure your phone has enough free storage and battery, and connect to Wi-Fi to avoid using mobile data.
The difference in download size is expected. Beta testers have already installed most of the new code through earlier builds, so their final package is small. Everyone else gets the full software in one go, which explains the larger download.
Users can check for the update manually under Settings > Software update. Availability may vary by carrier and device variant, so not everyone will see the prompt at the same time.
If the update is not showing up on your device yet, it is worth checking again later. Staged rollouts can take time to reach every phone, and carriers often release updates on slightly different schedules.
The US Galaxy S25 rollout follows a busy week for Samsung. The company rolled out One UI 9 for the Galaxy S26 trio globally earlier this week, released it for Korean Galaxy S25, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 units, and the 2025 foldables recently picked up the update in the US.
What’s New in One UI 9
One UI 9 brings enhanced Galaxy AI capabilities. A new feature called My FanCam automatically keeps a selected person centered in videos, making it easier to capture steady footage at concerts, events, and gatherings.
The update also adds improved Now Brief functionality and new context-aware suggestions that surface helpful actions based on how you use your phone. Document Scan and Voice Recorder get improvements as well.
Privacy gets a boost too, with expanded privacy controls included in the release. There is also a new Warranty and Care section in Settings, giving users a clearer view of their device coverage and support options.

Global Rollout Expected Next
Based on Samsung’s One UI 9 rollout pattern for the Galaxy S26 lineup, the update should reach global Galaxy S25 users next week. Samsung has not officially confirmed that timing, but Galaxy S25 owners outside the US likely will not wait much longer.
That timing would match the pace Samsung set with the Galaxy S26 series, where the global release followed shortly after the initial rollout. For now, US Galaxy S25 owners can enjoy the new software first.
For those who have not joined the beta, the wait is nearly over. Keep an eye on the Software update menu in the coming days, and make sure automatic downloads are enabled if you want the update as soon as it lands.
We will keep this article updated as the rollout expands to more regions and carriers.
