Tiers follow the current consensus of global launch tier lists (November 5, 2026), which agree on every adventurer. Freya is not released yet, so she is not on the board. Role is our short label for what each adventurer brings: damage, squad buffs, or monster control.

Coming soon: Freya, a fire disruptor who raises squad fire damage and whose ultimate always topples the monster, is not out yet. Early testing puts her in S tier, but she is hard to play well because she spins in close with no Super Armor. We will add her to the board when she releases.

Luka is the best adventurer for damage, and he is free. Madelyn is the best support to start with, also free and cheap to max because she is SR. Midori is the best limited pick, but only on monsters weak to fire. Haze comes from the guild shop, so every player can get her without pulling.

Best free Monster Hunter Outlanders adventurers

Best squads

Easiest squad: your main damage dealer + Madelyn + Ouyang Varen. Swap Ouyang Varen for Pyro or Midori when you want more damage.
Thunder squad: Luka + Haze + Luxheart. All three help thunder damage and Luxheart stops the monster early.
Fire squad: Midori + Ryunosuke + Raya (or Freya once she is out). Every slot raises fire damage.
Any element: Madelyn and Haze buff every element, so they fit almost every team.

Monster Hunter Outlanders tips

Bring the element the monster is weak to. Element matters a lot in Outlanders, and Midori and Luka swing from S tier to average on the wrong monster.
Build the guild shop currency early so you can claim Haze.
Do not spend on Arkaya unless you can get his first duplicate; Madelyn is better until then.
Pitfall traps (Raya) do nothing to Elder Dragons, so swap her out for those hunts.
Pick a ranged weapon for your Fated Adventurer if you are new: the heavy bowgun reaches top damage with the least practice.
