Narutodle: How to Play the Daily Naruto Character Guessing Game
Narutodle is a daily guessing game for Naruto fans, built on the same idea as Wordle: one hidden answer each day, a limited number of guesses, and color-coded clues that narrow the field with every try. Instead of a five-letter word, you are guessing a Naruto character — or, in the other modes, a jutsu, a quote, or a pair of eyes. If you know the Naruto and Shippuden rosters, it is a quick daily test. If you are new to it, this guide explains exactly how it works and how to solve it faster.
There are a few different Narutodle sites and versions, and their rules differ slightly (attempt counts and hint timing vary). The core game below is the same across them: guess, read the tiles, and use each miss to cut down the possibilities.

How to Play Narutodle
Every day, one shinobi is hidden and you must identify them from your guesses. Type at least two letters of a name and pick a character from the suggestions. Each guess appears as a row of attribute tiles, typically covering Village, Gender, Rank, Affiliation, Clan, Arc, Sage Mode, and Power — the exact columns vary by version.
The tile colors are the whole game:
Green means that attribute matches the hidden character exactly.
Yellow (or orange on some versions) means a partial match — for example, one shared jutsu type, or a rank one step away on the ladder (a Genin guess against a Chunin answer).
Red means no overlap at all on that attribute.
Arrows appear on ordered attributes: an up arrow means the answer debuts later or is stronger than your guess, a down arrow means earlier or weaker.
A single well-chosen first guess does a lot of work. Pick an active Konoha jonin with a named clan: that one guess carries a clan, a village, a rank, and usually multiple nature types, so it can eliminate hundreds of candidates at once. Two good guesses are often enough to pin down the clan and village together, and from there the roster shrinks fast.
If you stall, the game offers progressive hints as wrong guesses pile up — typically the answer’s affiliation first, then a blurred portrait, then the first letter of the name, and eventually a full reveal. The puzzle resets at midnight UTC, and signed-in players can appear on the daily leaderboard for their difficulty.
The Four Game Modes
Classic: Guess the hidden character from attribute tiles, as described above. This is the mode most people mean by Narutodle.
Jutsu: You are shown a blurry or partially obscured clip of a character performing a jutsu. Each wrong guess makes the clip slightly clearer until you can identify the user of the technique.
Quote: You get a famous line from the series and must guess which character said it. This one tests memory for dialogue and character personalities rather than stats.
Eye: The hardest mode for most players. You see a highly zoomed-in image of a character’s eye (or dojutsu), and each wrong guess zooms out slightly, revealing more of the face until you can name the ninja.
Tips to Solve Narutodle Faster
Start with a famous, well-connected character rather than an obscure one, the more attributes a guess carries, the more information every tile gives you. Pay attention to the arrows on ordered columns: they tell you whether to look earlier or later in the story, which is often the fastest way to cut the roster. Use the hint thresholds deliberately instead of burning guesses on random names, and remember that the roster covers the original series through Shippuden, so answers can come from anywhere in that run, not just the main cast.
Some versions split the game by era (original Naruto vs Shippuden) and difficulty (Easy draws from the most famous faces, while the hardest tier reaches deep into the supporting cast). If your version offers that choice, start on Easy to learn the tile logic, then move up.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Narutodle free to play?
Yes. The daily puzzle and the main modes are free in the browser, with an unlimited mode on some versions for extra practice.
How many guesses do you get in Narutodle?
It depends on the version; most give eight attempts for the daily puzzle, while some allow more guesses before offering a reveal. Check your version’s rules on its first screen.
What do the colors mean in Narutodle?
Green is an exact attribute match, yellow/orange is a partial match, and red is no match. Arrows on ordered attributes point toward the answer (up for later/stronger, down for earlier/weaker).
Does Narutodle have the same answer every day?
No. A new character (and new Jutsu, Quote, and Eye answers) is picked daily, and puzzles do not repeat back-to-back, so you will not face the same ninja twice in a row.
