Complete Chapter-by-Chapter Walkthrough

Resident Evil 4 Remake has 16 chapters total in the main story. The game is divided into three major areas: Village (Chapters 1-6), Castle (Chapters 7-12), and Island (Chapters 13-16).

Chapter 1 – The Village

Objective Summary: Follow the path and enter the lodge. Escape from the Hunter’s Lodge. Head for the Lake.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Walkthrough: All Chapters included
The Village Square fight in Chapter 1 – kill 15 villagers or wait 4 minutes

Walkthrough:

Start by following the trail until you reach the lodge. Enter the back of the lodge and watch the cutscene. Use the key to enter the basement and escape.

When you reach the Village Square, take the path on your left first. Be sneaky until you reach the house east of the village. Hug the north side of the village while crouched.

The Village Square Fight: You need to kill about 15 villagers to ring the bell manually. Alternatively, you can wait 4 minutes for the bell to ring automatically. Smash the barrel for some handgun ammo.

Dr. Salvador (Chainsaw Man) Strategy: Head to the two-story house near the top right of the village square. Entering this building triggers a cutscene with Leon blockading the door. Use the shotgun you find upstairs. Barricade the windows and push the ladder that leans against them. This temporarily prevents villagers from reaching the floor. Use grenades and headshots to take down Dr. Salvador.

Farm Area: After the Village Square, head to the Farm and Lakeside Settlement. Look for the first typewriter save point.

Key Items: Hunter’s Lodge Key, W-870 Shotgun (found in the Village Square house), Crude Charm file.

Blue Medallions: The first Blue Medallion Request is found in the Farm area. Pick up the request by the locked gate before tracking down the medallions.

Clockwork Castellan #1: Located in the Lakeside Settlement area, in a two-room shack near the middle of the area.

Estimated Completion Time: 45-60 minutes.
