The fast answer: The PTR goes live August 4th at 10:00 a.m. PDT for one week on PC. Soul Splinters, Challenge Dungeons, Overland Ambushes, Legacy Uniques, Mythic crafting changes, new Charms, Rebirth, and the Horadric Post are all coming. This PTR is lighter on features by design, with more content saved for BlizzCon.

What the Season 15 PTR Actually Is
The PTR is a testing environment for upcoming Season 15 features. Everything you do on the PTR gets deleted at the end.
PTR Start Date: August 4th at 10:00 a.m. PDT
Duration: One week
Platform: PC only
The developers deliberately kept some features out of this PTR. More will be revealed at BlizzCon.
Soul Splinters: New Socketable Items
Soul Splinters go into your jewelry and operate on a “give and take” principle. They come in multiple rarities: Common → Magic → Rare → Legendary → Unique. They can be upgraded at the Horadric Cube.
Splinter of Anguish – Fire resistance, crit chance, and attack speed. Costs more resources.
Splinter of Sin – Lightning damage and up to 40% max life. Reduces primary resources by 30%.
Splinter of Lies – Cold resistance, 60% gold drop rate, 25% crafting materials. You are weakened and vulnerable at all times.
Splinter of Blackstone – All stats. Killing enemies absorbs souls (up to 5% damage each) but increases damage taken by 0.5% per soul. Stacks and does not refresh.
Splinter of Pain – Poison resistance and up to 40% damage reduction. Lose 30% movement speed. Likely used in nearly every build.
Splinter of the Mother – Physical resistance and unhindered. Touching enemies makes you vulnerable for 10 seconds. Stuns after 250 touches.
Splinter of Hellfire – All elemental resistances and increased damage. Lose 100% crit chance. Great for DoT builds.
Splinter of Damnation – Shadow resistance. Killing elites increases monster power by one for up to 25 seconds.

Challenge Dungeons
New mechanics appearing around the overworld. Choose difficulty up to three Torment tiers higher than your current level—effectively Torment 15. Higher difficulty equals greater rewards. This is a system test, not the final feature.
Overland Ambushes
While roaming, a demon may hunt you. You’ll receive a warning. You can run or fight.
Legacy Uniques from Diablo 1, 2, and 3
Five all-class uniques return: Leoric’s Crown (counts as jewelry, increases gem effects by up to 100%), Nemesis Bracers, Ring of Royal Grandeur, Stone of Jordan, and Squirt’s Necklace. Five class-specific uniques also added. Likely not on PTR, slated for full Season 15 release.
Mythic Unique Crafting Overhaul
The developers are making significant improvements to the mythic system.
Horadric Cube Direct Upgrade – One-to-one transfer from unique to mythic. Preserves tempering, masterworking, and all upgrades. More expensive than blacksmith or jeweler recipes.
Given how resource-intensive these crafting changes are, having enough gold is critical. Many players choose to buy D4 Gold to keep up with the high costs of tempering, masterworking, and repeated crafting attempts.
Warning: Cannot upgrade items with an “unmodifiable” tag.
Crafted Tag Limitation – Cube-upgraded mythics receive a “Crafted” tag. You can equip only one per character. This doesn’t apply to blacksmith or jeweler mythics.
Blacksmith Changes – Mythic crafting cache drops mythics or iconic mythics valid for your class.
Iconic Mythics – All iconic mythics are now available as uniques too. Easier to obtain early. Mythic version later provides ~30% power upgrade.

New Charms
Mythic Charms – Drop-only, cannot be crafted. Chase items you’ll need to farm.
Unique Charms – 16 new unique charms added. Eight of the ten legacy uniques have charm versions.

Rebirth Feature
Convert an Eternal character to Seasonal. Class, name, appearance, cosmetics, and transmogs carry over. Level resets to 1.
Critical warning: All equipped gear is deleted. Remove items and store in your stash before using Rebirth.
Horadric Post
A new system delivering rewards and messages directly to your account.
How to Install the PTR
Open your launcher, find the Public Test Realm option, and click Install. PC only. Need space for two clients. Everything on PTR gets deleted.
About That “Bare-Bones” PTR Claim
The developers confirmed this PTR offers different features than usual by design. They’re saving content for BlizzCon. But we’re still getting Soul Splinters, Challenge Dungeons, Overland Ambushes, Legacy Uniques, Mythic changes, Charms, Rebirth, and Horadric Post—a substantial amount to test.
