Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Expansion Out Now on PS5, Xbox, PC, Switch 2 (2026)
Capcom has officially released Dragon’s Dogma 2 Dark Arisen, the first major expansion for its acclaimed 2024 action RPG. The highly anticipated expansion launched on October 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, and it brings the beloved series to Nintendo Switch 2 for the very first time.

Price and editions
The Dragon’s Dogma 2 Dark Arisen expansion costs $29.99 as DLC for players who already own Dragon’s Dogma 2 on PS5, Xbox, or Steam. New players can buy a $49.99 bundle containing the base game and the expansion. On Nintendo Switch 2, the $49.99 complete package is the only option. The expansion requires the base game to run.
What is new in Dragon’s Dogma 2 Dark Arisen
The expansion takes the Arisen and their loyal pawns north to Norgan, a vast snow-covered region left to the bitter cold and whatever mysterious dangers lurk beneath it. There they meet Eir, whose desperate search for the truth about an undying dragon pulls the party into long-abandoned settlements and treacherous wilderness far beyond the familiar lands of the base game.
In Dragon’s Dogma 2 Dark Arisen, Norgan introduces challenging new enemy types, and mysterious forgotten relics discovered across the region can be appraised for powerful new weapons and skills that outclass even the best endgame gear. Back in the main world, twelve intense Lost Rites dungeon challenges add even more epic battles and valuable equipment to discover. The robust character creator also grows with stylish new hairstyles and intricate tattoos for both the Arisen and their faithful pawns.
Title Update 4.0: Hard Mode and performance upgrades
The Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen launch comes with Title Update 4.0, a major free update available to all players at no additional cost. It adds a challenging new Hard Mode for veteran players who found the base game too easy, official Enhanced PSSR support on PlayStation 5 Pro, cutting-edge FSR 3 Frame Generation and DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation on PC, plus a comprehensive round of welcome quality-of-life improvements. Even if you decide to skip the paid expansion, this substantial free update alone is absolutely worth downloading.
New Official Pawns join the Rift
An exciting new wave of Official Pawns also joins the Rift in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. Just like the base game, Capcom is generously stocking it with unique pawns modeled on real-world creators, including popular figures like Toy Leon, Knockoff Ryu, and Real Rudy, alongside talented regional creators such as Pakistan’s Xyaa as the Archer “Xyaa.” Additionally, returning veteran pawns arrive with significantly boosted levels and powerful new skills. Capcom first officially revealed the expansion during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct showcase.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Dark Arisen on Nintendo Switch 2
The expansion also marks the series’ debut on Nintendo’s new hardware. Switch 2 players get the complete package, base game plus Dark Arisen, for $49.99, making it the natural entry point for anyone who skipped the 2024 original. Capcom revealed the Switch 2 version during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct, and its arrival alongside the PS5, Xbox, and PC launch means no platform is left waiting this time.
Should you jump in
If you bounced off the base game at its initial launch, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen plus Title Update 4.0 represents the most complete and polished version of Dragon’s Dogma 2 yet. The expansive new region, challenging dungeons, and powerful gear give veteran players a compelling real reason to return, while the impressive performance upgrades and demanding Hard Mode directly answer the community’s two biggest complaints. The exciting Switch 2 release also means Nintendo players can finally join the epic hunt. Just note that the expansion is not available on Game Pass, so there is no subscription shortcut here.
