GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 Leave PS Plus on November 17, 2026
PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members are about to lose two of the biggest games in the catalog. Sony has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 will be removed from the service on November 17, 2026, just two days before Grand Theft Auto 6 launches.

The removals were first spotted on October 20, 2026, when Asian PlayStation Store listings began showing the November departure dates, with other regions expected to follow. Some PS5 owners even received a system notification flagging GTA 5’s expiration date and nudging them to either pre-order GTA 6 or play GTA 5 before it leaves the service.
Both games are leaving the Extra and Premium game catalogs, which work like a subscription library. Once November 17 passes, the games will become unplayable through the service even if they are already downloaded, unless they are purchased separately. Games players own outright are not affected.
This is not the first time either title has rotated out. Since December 2023, GTA 5 has been added to PS Plus Extra three separate times, and Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently on its third stint in the catalog. Both will almost certainly return at some point, but subscribers should treat November 17 as a hard deadline.
The timing is clearly deliberate. Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Sony appears to be clearing the runway while giving players one final chance to revisit Los Santos and the Van der Linde gang before heading to Leonida. Rockstar just released the final GTA 6 launch trailer on October 15, and the hype cycle is now in full swing.
For subscribers with a backlog, the math is simple: GTA 5’s story takes roughly 30 hours and Red Dead Redemption 2 can easily pass 60, so starting now is the only way to finish either before the deadline. Both games remain hugely popular. On the US PlayStation Store, Red Dead Redemption 2 holds a 4.76 out of 5 rating from around 489,000 reviews, while GTA 5 sits at 4.46 from about a million.

There is also a money-saving angle. Both games are currently discounted on the US PlayStation Store, with the sales ending on October 22: Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4) is $14.99, down 75 percent from $59.99, GTA 5 Story Mode is $24.99, down 50 percent from $49.99, and the PS4 and PS5 bundle is $39.99. Steam is running its own sale with Red Dead Redemption 2 at $14.99 and GTA 5 Enhanced at $19.79. Buying before the sale ends beats paying full price after the catalog removal.
GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are not the only departures. The November 17 removals also include Football Manager 26, The Talos Principle 2, Cricket 24, Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, Hotshot Racing, Rock of Ages 3: Make and Break, Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair, Rapala Fishing Pro Series and Yet Another Zombie Defense HD, with Thank Goodness You’re Here also leaving in some regions. On the brighter side, Sony has been refreshing the catalog with strong additions, including Horizon Forbidden West, Mafia: The Old Country and Dino Crisis 2.
Here are the key details:
- Removal date: November 17, 2026, from PS Plus Extra and Premium
- Headline departures: Grand Theft Auto 5 (PS4, PS5) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4)
- Deadline context: Grand Theft Auto 6 launches November 19, 2026
- Current deals: RDR2 $14.99, GTA 5 Story Mode $24.99, GTA 5 PS4/PS5 $39.99 on the US PS Store until October 22
- After removal: games become unplayable via the service unless purchased; owned copies are unaffected
If either epic has been sitting in your backlog, now is the moment. Download them, finish the story, and be ready when GTA 6 arrives two days later.
