AFK Journey Heroes Tier List: Stop Wasting Resources on the Wrong Units

We have all been there. You stare at your screen, watching your Temporal Essence and Diamonds dwindle, wondering if you just made a massive mistake. You poured everything into a hero because they looked cool or destroyed you in the Arena once, only to find out they fall off a cliff when you actually need them in the Endless Dream Realm.

It frustrates us because in AFK Journey, resources are not just numbers. They are time. And wasting weeks of progress on a hero that gets bench-warmer status a month later hurts.

That is exactly why we put this guide together. This is not just a random collection of rankings. This AFK Journey Heroes Tier List is built on actual testing, heavily influenced by what we are seeing on the VN servers and the current Season 5 meta. We want to make sure every single resource you spend pushes your account forward.

You can also check the Tier list of other games here, including Devil Hunters, DC Dark Legion, Watchers of Realms, DC World Collide, Realm of Pixel, and Jujutsu Infinite tier list.

AFK Journey Heroes Tier List 2026

How We Rank The Heroes

Before we dive into the list, let’s get on the same page about how we evaluate these heroes. A hero might be S-Rank in PvP but absolutely useless against a Skyclops boss. Does that make them bad? No. It just means you need to know where they fit.

We look at four main pillars:

  • Dream Realm: Can they pump out damage or survive the one-shot mechanics? This is your main source of essence, so it weighs heavily.
  • PvP (Arena): Do they have the burst or the crowd control to handle Eironn comps or stall teams?
  • AFK Stages: Can they push you through those massive power deficits?
  • Investment Cost: Does the hero work with one copy, or do they need their EX weapon maxed out to even function?

The Complete AFK Journey Heroes Tier List

Below you will find the full breakdown. We have categorized them by their overall impact on your account right now. If a hero is in the S+ tier, they are basically future-proof. If they are lower, think twice before opening your wallet.

S-Rank Mauler Mage, arriving December 18th, is a fan‑favorite from this season’s story, so players are excited to play her. Her kit has been refined after several updates, and she is already dominating Endless Dream Realm bosses on VN servers, with strong PvP potential.

Banner Pull?
If you have the resources, pull her now—she will dominate Endless Dream Realm for the rest of Season 5.
Build Priority
Prioritize her immediately for Dream Realm S5. Her long‑term viability is uncertain; she may be nerfed or phased out in Season 6, so avoid over‑investing before Christmas. If you want to push the end of the season, she’s a solid choice.

His kit, featuring summoned armor and a stun, scales well in AFK stages, making him a compelling choice for many players this season. He can keep monsters stunned for extended periods, which is highly effective. While some claim he performs well in Supreme Arena, in practice even at full power he occupies only a niche role there. Avoid overinvesting, as his summoned armor loses energy more quickly under heavy burst damage, limiting its effectiveness. The additional damage primarily targets monsters.

Banner Pull?
If you struggle in AK stages and spend any amount, he can accelerate your progress this season and is worth pulling.

Ravion is an overpowered PvP hero who applies heavy pressure from the start and is also strong immediately in the Dream Realm. If you consider him a top priority, read our banner pull and build priority notes below.

Banner Pull?
Ravion is ideal for PvP, with a kit that excels in that mode. Even less competitive players benefit from his Dream Realm strength. However, the upcoming Season 5 hero Perseus will counter him in PvP, reducing his dominance, and the Dream Realm will change with new bosses. He remains solid, but if you can wait for Season 5, you might hold off.

Today she’s cooled off; while still solid against bosses, she’s no longer meta. Her main strengths now lie in countering Eironn and crowd‑control compositions in PvP. She’s still viable, but if you haven’t built her yet, there are better options.

She is no longer very relevant. Some teams still use her in Dream Realm and PvP, but if her ultimate doesn't win the tug‑of‑war, she provides little benefit.

There has been a lot of hype and subsequent disappointment around Mehira, often driven by content creators who overhype and then abandon her. Consider multiple sources before forming an opinion. Recently she received a buff on the VN servers that improves her performance compared to the preview. She is not a Dream Realm hero and is not meta in PvP. In her current state, with all buffs, she mainly helps push AFK stages, which are tougher than previous seasons. This shouldn’t be a reason for most players, especially lower spenders, to build her. Summon is highly useful, offering crowd control and AoE damage that make her an excellent choice. She can carry you through the story and AFK stages for a long time, reaching 700+ easily. Building and ascending her is worthwhile, and investing in her exclusive and focus skills is a smart move. Although her power wanes later, early in the game she should be among the first heroes you ascend to progress the main story efficiently.

Banner Pull?
She is a release hero and never has a dedicated banner.

If you are new to AFK Journey, she is a must-build hero. If you are further along, she is less relevant because she is an early‑game carry.

unpacking the S+ Tier: Why They dominate

You might notice a few names sitting comfortably at the top of our AFK Journey Heroes Tier List. Let’s talk about why heroes like Phraesto and Galahad are dominating the conversation right now.

It usually comes down to versatility.

Take Phraesto, for example. He is not just a tank; he is a cornerstone for almost every game mode. When you are looking at Hypolestial heroes, you want someone who gives you value everywhere because they are so expensive to build. Phraesto does exactly that.

Then you have Smokey & Meerky. We have seen the meta shift, we have seen buffs and nerfs, and yet Smokey remains the gold standard for healing. If you are Free-to-Play (F2P), these are the units you prioritize. They don’t just help you win; they help you progress faster than everyone else.

Do Check: Whiteout Survival Tier List

A Note on “Niche” Heroes

You will see heroes like Thoran or Eironn floating in the A and B tiers depending on the specific mode. Do not let that fool you.

“Niche” does not mean bad.

The complete list of Best AFK Journey Heroes Rankings

Eironn is a perfect example. Early on, he might feel underwhelming. But once you get his Exclusive Weapon, he fundamentally breaks the game mechanics by grouping enemies together. If you are building a magic nuke team, he is not just an option; he is a requirement.

However, we ranked him slightly lower in general priority because he requires that specific team composition to shine. Unlike Shemira, who you can throw into almost any team and see results, Eironn demands you build around him.

Managing Your Wishlist for Season 5

The biggest trap we see players fall into is failing to update their Wishlist.

As the AFK Journey Heroes Tier List changes with new seasons, your Wishlist needs to adapt. If you are still pulling for Lucius or Valen because they helped you in the first week, you are hurting your long-term growth.

Use the data above to adjust your daily pulls. If a hero is marked as “S+ Spender Significance” but “C F2P Significance,” be honest with yourself about your budget. It is better to have a maxed-out Odie (who is a beast in Dream Realm) than a halfway-built Celestial that you can’t ascend.

Final Thoughts on Your Journey

The meta moves fast. What works in the early game of AFK Journey often stops working when you hit the multi-team stages.

Use this AFK Journey Heroes Tier List as your compass, but don’t be afraid to experiment. Sometimes, the best team is the one that counters the specific problem you are facing right now. But when in doubt? Stick to the S-Rank heroes. They earned that spot for a reason.

We will keep this list updated as new patches drop and new strategies emerge from the community. Good luck out there, and may your pulls always be gold.
