Star Citizen Sabre: Specs, Variants and Where to Buy

The Star Citizen Sabre is Aegis Dynamics’ stealth fighter, and it is one of the most searched small ships in the game.

This guide covers what it does, the specs on the current wiki page, how its weapons are set up, the variants, and where to buy it with in-game money. Numbers are from the Star Citizen wiki for version 4.10.1, so recheck them after big patches.

What the Star Citizen Sabre is

The Sabre is a single seat, small (size 2) stealth fighter in the combat career. It was designed in response to a UEE Navy request for a next generation fighter, and Aegis has chosen to sell a run of production prototypes to licensed civilian pilots. It is built for pilots who want to open a fight with surprise instead of trading shots for a long time.

Sabre specs

  • Role: stealth fighter, one crew
  • Speeds: SCM 223 m/s, max 1,235 m/s
  • Quantum: speed 167.3891 Mm/s, range 54 Gm
  • Hull: 25,013 HP
  • Shield: 4,488 HP, from two size 1 Shimmer shield generators

Sabre weapons

The stock loadout is four size 3 VariPuck gimbal mounts, each carrying a CF-337 Panther repeater, plus two size 4 MSD-423 missile racks. Each rack holds two size 3 missiles, an Arrester III and a Thunderbolt III. The ship also has weapon racks for two rifles and one pistol. Gimballed mounts help you keep your shots on target even when your nose is not perfectly aligned, which is helpful if you are still learning to fly fighters.

Sabre variants

  • Sabre Comet: a variant of the base Sabre
  • Sabre Firebird: a missile focused stealth fighter
  • Sabre Peregrine: a racing ship
  • Sabre Raven: an interdiction variant
  • Sabre Raven EX: a medium fighter

The wiki marks the Firebird as time-limited, so it may not always be on sale. The Raven EX is listed as limited availability. Always check the shop before planning a purchase around a variant.

Where to buy the Sabre

The wiki lists the base Sabre at New Deal, at Teasa Spaceport in Lorville on Stanton, for 4,273,290 aUEC. Rentals are not listed. The pledge price is 175 US dollars standalone, or 160 US dollars as a warbond, with insurance listed as 120 months and time-limited availability. Prices and stock can change, so confirm in the shop terminal.

Is the Sabre good?

The Sabre rewards patient pilots. Its hull and shield figures are solid for a small ship, and the gimballed repeaters make it forgiving. The stealth role is the real selling point: if you can approach with your signatures low, the first volley is yours.

Video reviews, including the honest review from Forge Core Gaming and a build guide from Pyro King, are worth watching if you want to see it in action before you spend millions of aUEC.

How to fly a stealth fighter well

Stealth fighters work best when you control the fight. Approach from a direction the target is not watching, line up your repeaters first, and fire your missiles at the start of the engagement.

Keep an exit in mind, because a small ship with a smaller shield pool should not stay in a long brawl. Practice in a quiet area first so you learn the speed and turn rate before you take the ship into a contested zone.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Sabre a one-seat ship? Yes. The wiki lists one crew.

How much does the Sabre cost in aUEC? The wiki lists 4,273,290 aUEC at New Deal in Lorville.

Can I rent it? Rentals are not listed on the wiki page.

Which Sabre is the racing one? The Sabre Peregrine.

A final point on budget: the ship price is only part of the cost. Plan for missile reloads, ammunition and repairs, and make sure you can afford insurance claims if you lose the ship. Many new pilots spend everything on the hull and then cannot afford to fly it. Keep a reserve of a few hundred thousand aUEC so one bad fight does not end your session.

Quick buying tips

  • Save around 4.3 million aUEC for the base ship, plus extra for ammunition and repairs
  • Check New Deal in Lorville for stock before you travel
  • Compare the Sabre with other small fighters in your budget before you commit
  • Do not pay real money for ships on third party sites, because scams are common
