What the Star Citizen Sabre Firebird is

The Firebird is a single seat stealth fighter. The wiki describes it as designed for swift and relentless assaults using its customized missile system.

It was flight ready in Alpha 3.23.1. The wiki lists it as a small (size 2) ship in the infobox, but the intro calls it a medium fighter, so the page is not perfectly consistent.

Sabre Firebird specs

  • Crew: 1 pilot
  • Speeds: SCM 240 m/s, max 1,400 m/s
  • Quantum: speed 167.3891 Mm/s, range 54 Gm, spool time 4.9 seconds
  • Rotation: pitch 49 degrees per second, yaw 41, roll 160
  • Hull: 15,510 HP
  • Shield: 4,488 HP
  • Size: 26 m long, 30 m wide and about 3.8 to 5 m high, with a mass of 73,492 kg

Firebird weapons

The Firebird’s big feature is its underside missile launcher, which holds 24 size 3 Thunderbolt III missiles. It also has two size 3 gun hardpoints beside the cockpit, which are VariPuck gimbal mounts carrying Mantis GT-220 Gatling guns. The wiki lists the pilot DPS at 1,706.6 and the missile rating at 69,600.

Sabre Firebird versus the base Sabre

The base Sabre trades missile count for gun power and toughness. The wiki lists the Sabre with four size 3 gimbal mounts carrying CF-337 Panther repeaters, a smaller missile load, a 25,013 HP hull and speeds of 223 m/s SCM and 1,235 m/s maximum. The Firebird has just two guns, but it has a much larger missile load, a faster top speed of 1,400 m/s and a smaller hull at 15,510 HP.

  • Pick the Firebird if you want hit and run missile attacks
  • Pick the Sabre if you want more guns and a sturdier hull

How much the Firebird costs

The wiki lists the Firebird at about 5,580,410 aUEC at New Deal in Teasa Spaceport, Lorville, in Stanton. Rental is listed as no in the infobox and unknown in another section. The pledge price is 185 US dollars standalone, or 170 US dollars as a warbond. Availability is time-limited, so it may not always be on sale. The price was updated on 2026-10-02.

Another way to get a Firebird

Wikelo offers an Aegis Sabre Firebird Wikelo War Special as a contract reward. The wiki lists the Firebird Mod contract as needing 15 Wikelo Favor, 4 DCHS-05 Orbital Positioning Comp-Boards, 3 Ace Interceptor Helmets and 1 Government Cartography Agency Medal (Pristine). Contract requirements change with patches, so check them in game.

Is the Firebird worth it?

If you like opening a fight with a missile barrage and then leaving, the Firebird is a strong choice. Its weakness is its small gun count and smaller hull, so avoid long brawls. Video reviews from Nephi and Evenlease show how it handles in practice.

How to fly the Firebird

Treat the Firebird as an ambush ship. Approach a target from a direction it is not watching, fire your missile salvo early, and use the speed advantage to leave before the target can respond. With 24 missiles you have room to repeat the attack, but each pass puts you at risk, so do not stay in the fight if your shield is low. The fixed hardpoints beside the cockpit mean you need to point your nose at the target to use the Gatling guns, so keep your aim clean when you do.

Because the hull is smaller than the base Sabre’s, repairs and insurance matter more. Keep some aUEC in reserve so a lost ship does not stop your session. If you are new to stealth fighters, start with a few quiet missions before you take the ship into contested space.

Buying checklist

  • Save at least 5.6 million aUEC for the ship, plus extra for missiles and repairs
  • Check New Deal in Lorville for stock before you travel
  • Compare the Firebird with the base Sabre and decide whether you prefer missiles or guns
  • Avoid third party sellers, because scams are common
